ETERMAR ENGENHARIA E CONSTRUÇÃO won the project for the design, supply and construction of the liquid bulk berth of the Port of Bargny-Sendou in Senegal.
Initially announced by the White House during Obama’s visit to the country in 2015, the port is managed by Senegal Minergy Port (SMP), a private company with investors from Senegal, India and the USA.
The project also was awarded a grant from the US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) for feasibility studies and is part of the Doing Business in Africa initiative.
The Bargny-Sendou port is located 25km south of Dakar. Its primary purposes are alleviating the congestion of the capital’s historic harbour and becoming the largest bulk cargo port in West Africa.
The liquid bulk berth will be able to dock ships up to 95.000 DWT and allow the importation and exportation of hydrocarbon derivatives. The project will be concluded at the end of 2021. This will be Etermar’s first project in Senegal.
